Volunteer Coordinator

Closing date: 07 Feb 2019
Number of sessions: 2

Ever wanted to step up and lead others at community service events but felt uncertain if you are equipped for the role? Join us this February for the Volunteer Coordinator Track where we will be training aspiring Volunteer Coordinators in the areas of volunteer management, group facilitation skills and risk assessment to enable you to lead volunteers better.

Through an engaging training run by our very own YCS staff, you will be exposed to a series of lectures, case studies, group discussions, demonstrations, roleplay and use of facilitation props. You will be confident to lead a group of up to 10 Volunteer Befrienders (VBs) and empowered to effectively engage them through icebreakers, briefings and debriefs.

Not only will this help you in the realm of volunteering – the skills you will pick up are also highly transferable to your schools and workplaces, and other aspects of your life as well.

Come partner with us to champion youth volunteerism and create positive volunteering experiences for our youths!

The pilot run of this programme is open to all youths who are keen to take on the role of a Volunteer Coordinator during Youth Corps Service Week 2019. The minimum requirement to qualify for the VC track is to have participated in at least 2 YCS community service events. We will contact applicants who have met this criteria.

Youths who signup for this programme are expected to commit to the following:

  • Compulsory one-day training on 16 Feb 2019 at Devan Nair Insititute for Employment and Employability
  • Compulsory training for Youth Corps Service Week 2019 on 9 March (training hours are dependent on the YCSW 2019 event you signup for)
  • Compulsory commitment as VC for at least 1 Youth Corps Service Week 2019 event that runs from 16 to 23 March

The Red Box

Set in the heart of Orchard Road, The Red Box is a place for youths to gather, exchange ideas and take action to make Singapore a better home for all. Its name draws inspiration from the red box of Singapore’s Founding Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. It represents the late Mr Lee’s love and conviction towards creating a better Singapore.

The Red Box is open to all Youth Corps Members to ignite positive change in our community. Look out for various enrichment and engagement sessions at The Red Box.
