Volunteer Befriender

As a Volunteer Befriender, you will be tagging along with a special friend with mild intellectual disability and their family members (from APSN Centre for Adults)

Throughout the carnival, you will encourage your buddy to participate in the various fun-filled booth activities together with you. Volunteer befrienders will be tagged to the same attendee throughout the carnival, and have the opportunity to forge strong friendships with their respective buddies. One of the experiences which volunteer befrienders may gain is enhancing their interaction and befriending style with persons with special needs.

Last but not least, volunteer befrienders will also get to have a chit-chatting session with them and their family members over games and lunch, and may gain more understanding and awareness for the special needs community and their families.

Commitment required for this programme would be both of the following:

  • Compulsory Orientation & Training on 14th September (Friday), 7:00PM - 10:00PM
  • Actual carnival event on 16th September 2018 (Sunday), 9:00AM - 6:00PM

Both events will be held at The Red Box, 113 Somerset Road.

Station Master

As a Station Master, you have the opportunity to run fun games and activities for our special friends with mild intellectual disability and their family members from APSN Centre for Adults.

Throughout the carnival, you will get to facilitate the activity assigned to you, and engage the attendees to participate in the games. One of the experiences which volunteer station masters may also gain is enhancing their facilitation skills through delivering the flow of the activities.

Last but not least, station masters will have the opportunity to interact with a large variety of individuals with intellectual disabilities.  

Commitment required for this programme would be both of the following:

  •  Compulsory Orientation & Training on 14th September (Friday), 7:00PM - 10:00PM
  • Actual carnival event on 16th September 2018 (Sunday), 9:00AM - 6:00PM

Caregiver Activity Facilitator

As a Caregiver Activity Facilitator,  you will be running activities for family members of our clients from APSN Centre for Adults.

Throughout the carnival, you will be participating with our client’s caregivers in the various “keep-fit and keep-healthy” activities conducted by various partners, including Health Promotion Board. Throughout the various activities, facilitators will also encourage caregivers to participate actively, assist the partners to deliver and translate the instructions when needed, and ensure the smooth running of the activities. One of the experiences which caregiver activities facilitators may gain is the skills and technique to smoothly run the activities

Last but not least, caregiver activities facilitators will also get to have a chit-chatting session with them and their family members over games and lunch, and may gain more understanding and awareness for the special needs community and their families.

Volunteer Photographer

Calling for youths with a passion for photography!

We need YOU to help us document this memorable day for our clients and caregivers from APSN Centre for Adults.

As a volunteer photographer (VP), you will be roaming around different parts of the carnival event, as we go about enjoying the activities and games booths with our clients and volunteers. The photographs will be submitted to us and be used for different materials as part of our post-event updates and future publicity.

VPs should:

Come equipped and ready with your cameras to click away on 16th September 2018 (Sunday), 9:00AM – 6:00PM

VPs are highly recommended to be equipped with photography skills and preferably own a camera

Who We Are

Youth Corps Singapore is a national institution that supports young Singaporeans who are keen to serve the community. As the champion for youth volunteerism, it harnesses the energy and passion of youths to ignite positive change in the society through community service.

Bringing together Singapore Citizens and PRs aged 16 to 35, Youth Corps Singapore provides a platform for youths to learn new skills and meet like-minded peers, who aspire to go forth and create a better Singapore and a better world for all.

What We Offer

As a Member of Youth Corps Singapore, you can make friends with people like yourself at various platforms. Whether it’s health, education, or environmental causes, we offer a diverse range of volunteering opportunities and events for our Members, from community service events to regular volunteering.

Members can also join our Leaders Programme as Aspirants. We provide relevant trainings where you can take your skills and knowledge of service-learning to the next level, and apply them to a project to impact the community. You will also forge greater bonds with fellow Aspirants, and enjoy exclusive perks. When you are conferred as a Leader, you get to continue to develop yourself, initiate community projects and rally your friends to join you on a good cause.

The Red Box

Set in the heart of Orchard Road, The Red Box is a place for youths to gather, exchange ideas and take action to make Singapore a better home for all. Its name draws inspiration from the red box of Singapore’s Founding Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. It represents the late Mr Lee’s love and conviction towards creating a better Singapore.

The Red Box is open to all Youth Corps Members to ignite positive change in our community. Look out for various enrichment and engagement sessions at The Red Box.
