Team Legacy SK9: Project Pass-It-On

Project Pass-It-On (Maker Workshop) aims to create a community of self-directed learners and youths living in Jalan Bukit Merah area who are able to be independent and practice the 3 maker mindsets. Our workshops empower the children to build their own toys and obtain the confidence to independently learn and make their own crafts.

Workshop sessions for Season 2 are carried out on 15th and 22nd July. By participating in the programme, the kids & their parents will learn hands-on skills. The workshop will focus on simple electronics to build the desired toy with their own creative freedom. The electronics used for the programme would be simple and convenient for the kids to learn and ideally practice by themselves. In addition to the workshop, our team will be educating the kids on the importance of continuous independent learning in the hopes that they would use it to better improve themselves and their situation.

Join us to empower children to build a better world for themselves today!

This project is part of Youth Corps Singapore’s Leaders Programme.

Team OneLessPlate: Project Reduce Food Waste

This project aims to look into ways to address food waste issues in Singapore.

With regard to food wastage, we intend to look into cosmetic filtering as a key area of concern, given that we recognize this gap in current food wastage solutions in Singapore. As such, we intend to organize booths to educate the general public regarding the issues of cosmetic filtering and subsequently provide individuals with concrete solutions on how to tackle this issue. These solutions include online outreach such as YouTube videos that centres around the use of “ugly food”. In retrospect, as our key area of concern is reducing food waste, the latent function of having YouTube videos would be the idea that these recipes can also be used for normal food products to help prolong their shelf life, which could help to reduce food waste as well.

This project is part of Youth Corps Singapore’s Leaders Programme.
