Our Projects

PROJECT EMPATHIZE

Team Doraemons has come together to embark on a community outreach project hoping to foster a strong rapport with the clients of the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) Tampines Training and Development Centre (TTDC), whom are Persons with Intellectual Disability (PWIDs). This project aims to foster stronger bonds between clients with severe intellectual disability and the residents living in close proximity to the MINDS Tampines Training and Development. It also aspires to create a more inclusive society, further reducing social stigma and creating opportunities for PWIDs to showcase their talents.

This project is part of Youth Corps Singapore’s Leaders Programme.

Project IDesign

The structural mismatch of skills of People with Intellectual Disabilities (PWIDs) and the support provided by the employers has inevitably led to insufficient employment opportunities for PWIDs. Furthermore, the general lack of environmental awareness by Singaporeans is worrying due to its undesirable consequences. In order to address these pertinent issues, Team Windmill has coupled the provision of employment opportunities to PWIDs from Movement for the Intellectual Disabled of Singapore (MINDS) with a social cause of promoting environmental awareness.

This project is part of Youth Corps Singapore’s Leaders Programme.

Team Incandescence: Mind Your Pockets - Minds Children's Wing

MINDSville is crucial as most of the children have limited exposure to sports and a majority of them go on to lead a sedentary lifestyle throughout their lifespan. This may bring about a host of medical conditions as they age.  A healthy mind and body plays an important role to support their developmental interventions. Inculcating an active lifestyle takes time and it would be good to begin at an early age. This project aims to develop a programme/curriculum to help stimulate their motor and cognitive capabilities to slow down regression and where possible, involve the community.

Our project aims to implement a Financial Literacy Programme for the children in MINDSville Children’s Wing, to equip them with knowledge on money sense, money management and real life money applications. We will emphasize on experiential learning so that they could better retain what they have learnt. To engage the children effectively, our lessons will be carried out using fun and interactive activities.

In our outreach efforts, we are collaborating with around 10-20 committed youths from the community (e.g. Bowen Secondary School). These youths will be involved in the planning, leading and executing of the Financial Literacy Programme. At the end, we aim to hand over the project to them, and they could bring in and guide another batch of youths in their engagement with MINDSville.

This project is part of Youth Corps Singapore's Leaders Programme.

We will be working closely with Movement for the Intellectually Disabled (MINDS) and Sustainable Living Lab to produce this multi-functional table that can cater better to the needs of the patients.

This project is part of Youth Corps Singapore’s Leaders Programme.

Super Explora with MINDSville

The overall programmes of Super Explora seeks to engage youths who are interested and open to learn more about individuals with intellectual disability (ID) and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), varying children to adult.
“Super” signifies that individuals with special needs have their own strengths and talent, while “Explora” consist of “explore” and “camera”.

As such, the main focus of the project is for our beneficiaries to explore around and take photos with smart tablets or smartphones at selected locations in Singapore, adding on to simple outdoor activities.

For this outing, Super Explora partners with MINDSville @ Napiri (Adult’s Disability Home).

What are you waiting for? Join us today to be part of Super Explora with an open heart.
