Our Projects

Project M.U.S.E.

Team M.U.S.E. aimed to integrate mental health clients back into society. Two main objectives from the team were to inculcate a sense of self-efficacy in the residents, allowing them to be more independent and stronger individuals for their families. Secondly, it is to address the social stigma towards people with mental illness. The team came up with a social experiment video to document the stigma in Singapore together with an animation video to allow viewers to gain greater knowledge of the effects of the stigma.

Team Sum: Project Rocket Boosters

Project Rocket Boosters aims to improve the literacy rates of the lower primary children living in Chen Su Lan Methodist Children's Home, as we believe that it is important to future learning.

The children’s literacy levels are generally below the level expected of their age. Some of them have learning difficulties due to dyslexia, others may lack the interest in reading, resulting in a vicious cycle.

Therefore, Project Rocket Boosters will be curating and developing a curriculum based on the central theme of fun. We will be transforming a corner in their hall (Shaw Hall) into a living classroom and a learning lab with monthly-themed based exhibition, complemented with word bank posters, and implementing 'No Singlish rule'. Concurrently, the children will also be learning English in a fun way through a play (Alive, alive!).

This project is part of Youth Corps Singapore's Leaders Programme.

Team Ember: Growing Beyond Boundaries

Mentally ill patients are often stigmatised and not allowed to experience the joys of the world. They are largely unable to connect with the society and enjoy the true value of friendships and communications as people are less willing to accept them back to the community. Team Ember hopes to reach out to people from all walks of life and rally them to pledge their support in eradicating the stigma surrounding the mentally ill and their conditions in Singapore.

Project “Growing Beyond Boundaries” aims to reintegrate the residents of Sunlove Abode of Intellectually-Infirmed back into the society regardless of differences. Reintegration would mean that the mentally ill patients will be able to have the confidence to venture out and interact with the public. The project adopts a two-pronged approach to equip the residents with life skills such that they would be able to contribute to the community in a meaningful way and to raise awareness among the public about mental health issues in Singapore.

Support our cause today!

This project is part of Youth Corps Singapore's Leaders Programme.
