Together We Yoldening
'Together We Yoldening' is an event organised by Yolden (Arts) that promotes intergenerational bonding between youths and seniors as we go on a visit to National Gallery Singapore. In our past sessions, we used arts as a platform to initiate conversations and improve the mental and physical well-being of the seniors. Some of the seniors at the nursing home are wheel-chair bound and are restricted in their movement and do not travel to further places. Therefore, with the available resources, we have organised this trip for the seniors to enjoy and appreciate the collection of Singaporean and Southeast Asian art which may also tap into their nostalgic memories.
Health and wealth is a commodity and so is old age. Join us in a day of fun and excitement where you'll engage in friendly conversations with the seniors, learn about their past and indulge in different arts and crafts activities during the open house.
This is a youth-for-youth project supported by Youth Corps Singapore.
Closing date: 10 Jul 2019

YOLDEN (Arts) @ Ren Ci (Bukit Batok Nursing Home)
YOLDEN is a regular elderly befriending programme which aims to cater to the physical, intellectual and social emotional wellness of the beneficiaries. “YO” comes from the word “YOuths” and “OLDEN” comes from the word “gOLDEN”, which represents the elderly.
YOLDEN (Arts) offers the elderly an opportunity to express themselves and communicate with others through art. This can be therapeutic for the elderly, and regular participation may improve an elderly's overall physical and mental health.
Through the programme, youth volunteers will be able to befriend and engage the elderly through arts-based activities, with the aim of improving the wellbeing and quality of life of the elderly.
This project is a Youth Corps Singapore regular community service programme.
