Dragon Knights: Project Connecting

Project Connecting aims to help youth-at-risk (from ages 13 to 16) from Andrew’s and Grace’s Girls Home develop themselves, in terms of their character and connection to society by organising activities and programs, including regular dragonboating sessions. We seek to create a safe space for these youth to express themselves by forging a network of trust and support amongst themselves and the volunteers as well as the Andrew and Grace’s Girls Home staffers in hope that they will be able to build healthy relationships with others.

There will be a character theme assigned to each month and the corresponding activities will be planned. Activities include Escape Room for Team Building, and Volunteering to developing a sense of Empathy among youths.

We're looking for volunteers that meet the following requirements:

- Female, at least 18 years old

- English speaking

- Available to volunteer for at least six months

-Be able to commit to attending dragonboating sessions for least two Saturday morning sessions per month from June until the end of this year

Team Capture: Project Snap

Working together with REACH Community Services (RCSS), our project aims to empower youths with basic photography and videography skills within 6 months. At the same time, we will be conducting bonding sessions in order to build rapport with the youth and create a strong peer support system. Towards the end of programme, we hope to have the youths embark on a photo exhibition project/ video project to showcase what they have learnt. By expanding this project to various centres and branching out to other skills, we hope to sustain this project and give them a platform to showcase their skills and to create potential job prospects.

This project is part of Youth Corps Singapore’s Leaders Programme.
